What is the Tools for Schools Initiative?

In 2010, the floods affected 78 districts out of a total of 141 districts in Pakistan. It left one fifth of our country's land under water. More than 1,700 people lost their lives and over 20 million Pakistani's were affected with their dreams & lives disrupted. Not only households but thousands of schools were also damaged or destroyed by the floods which left 1.3 million children distressed, scared and out of school, thus keeping them away from the basic education that they are entitled to.

Education is every child's right and the recovery needs of education in the flood-affected areas are significant. The Government reports that more than 10,000 schools have been damaged or destroyed and more than 5,000 school buildings are being used as collection centers. These schools need to be repopulated before they can again be suitable for the resumption of educational activities.

In such a situation it is upon us, the lucky ones, to help restore education. We need to rebuild and rehabilitate schools and bring back to children what they once had.

Surf Excel is joining hands with children of unaffected schools to bring Surf Excel Tools For Schools to collectively contribute towards making a difference. With Tools for Schools, Surf Excel is planning a nationwide campaign where students learn the fun way of contributing and making a social difference. 1 in 7 children across Pakistan have been affected by floods, and Surf Excel's aim is to work with the other 6 kids to make it possible for their 1 friend to go back to school.

Through Tools for Schools, children discovered positive helping and the reassurance and confidence that each of them individually can make a difference!
