Dr. Narmeen Altaf Hamid shares why she thinks 'Tools for Schools' can make a real difference
Friday April 15,2011

As Chairperson of the Idara-e-Taleem-o-Agahi, it pleases me to collaborate with Surf Excel in their nationwide campaign to improve the school environment of children living in the flood-affected areas of Pakistan.
The Idara is dedicated to improving schools and the quality of education and this campaign promises to do that in several ways.
Firstly and most directly it provides the children in the flood-affected areas a more enabling and conducive environment for learning. Secondly it provides an opportunity for more privileged children to learn the all important value of doing something for others, to empathize with those in difficult situations and to have the satisfaction of being able to bring a smile to their faces. Lastly and most importantly, at a time of general national low esteem and depression because of multiple factors like natural disasters, terrorism, rising prices and unemployment, this campaign sends out a positive message, one of hope, solidarity and self-reliance. It says that together we can change things for ourselves and make our country a better place.
